Winning Best Indie Game and Best Indie Game Debut at The Game Awards 2022, it’d be hard to argue that Stray isn’t one of the greatest indie games we’ve had in recent years. It’s enough to keep you playing endlessly, mixing in the squalid elements with a curious cat trying to find his way home.
But for the loyal fans, what are they going to play after completing this precious exploration game? While Stray is a unique game, there are similar games out there that offer the same kind of tone and/or gameplay mechanics. Untitled Goose Game is charming and silly at heart. You play a mischievous goose that has been released. You train throughout the game by solving different objectives by manipulating objects and NPCs. With a slapstick sense of humor, this game is purely entertaining.
This sandbox can remind players to Stray through an animal by using puzzle-solving skills to achieve their goal. You’ll also enter a world where the characters are just as curious as you – not to mention how attractive both of these games are, too. Ultimately, playing Untitled Goose Game is simple and fun.
7 night in the woods
At first glance, Night in the Woods looks like a cute indie game with great, memorable characters. Of course, this first impression is real. However, Night in the Woods offers much more than just a nice environment.
With a focus on exploring the environment while also discovering your identity, it’s the journey of tagging along with the main character that makes Night in the Woods truly so great. The soundtrack also enhances the experience of this game. Filled with a cast of characters from different kinds of animals, there is no doubt that a Stray fan would love to add this to their collection.
6 Cat Quest
Set in an open world full of cats, Cat Quest follows a kitten on a journey into the big world to fight off monsters. By referring to the “Catventurer”, you can customize your stylish outfit and practice ancient spells to prepare for the battles ahead.
It is not surprising that the game about a cat on an adventure will remind us of Stray. Cat Quest is a simple hack-and-slash dungeon crawler game that makes it the perfect game for those who love to fight but don’t want complicated combat.
5 Outer wilds
Since the release of Outer Wilds, he has been an unforgettable part of the exploration video game community. It accompanies the story of a space explorer who sets out to make exciting discoveries in the solar system. but there is a problem. You are stuck in a 22-minute time loop that always ends in a star explosion.

Overall, what Journey accomplishes is remarkable. The game finally gives you a chance to find out who you are, and go on a physical and spiritual journey.
Stray and Journey have a lot in common beyond their joint publisher. The heroes in both games are set on achieving a single goal that leads to a sense of freedom. And along the way, the adventure they had is unforgettable.
